Advanced English After watching the second episode of the series, When they See Us: 1. How well do you think the defendant lawyers prepared for the case? 2. Why do you think the lawyers wanted separate trials? 3. Describe the public opinion about the case as the accused walk to court. 4. What kind of ethical and moral dilemmas the state lawyer had, compared to the district attorney? 5. How do you think the trial was conducted? 6. So far, How do you feel? Last night in Los Angeles took place the 71st Emmy's ceremony and  Jharrel Jerome took the best actor on a limited series or TV movie. He is one the actors in When they See Us mini series. Also the first Dominican to win such a prestigious award! good for him we should feel very proud of him as a Latin American. 

When They see us episode 1 /Advanced English

After watching the first episode from When they see us mini series: 1. Where does the story develops? 2. Describe the situation being investigated. 3. Do you think the way the investigators proceed was legally and morally correct? Explain. 4. What kind of conflicts the main characters were facing? 5. So far , how can you describe the District Attorney and her role in the investigation? 6. Summarize the most important details of  Episode 1. 7. Dear 7th graders: We have been discussing the topic of Sensory Language and Brainstorming. As a summary and reminder : Sensory Language - is a language that connects to the five senses(sight,sound,smell,taste,touch) to create an image or description. Task #1: You will write five sentences using each sensory image. (50 pts.)  Examples: 1. Manuel likes big Red apples. (visual) 2. Stella's hair is very soft. (tactile) 3. The music at the concert was so loud that i was not able to communicate. (listen) 4. This piece of pie smell very good.( olfactory) 5. My favorite dessert  taste like strawberries. Task #2 Brainstorming: You will choose a topic for brainstorming and will apply each technique to your ideas. (10 pts. each) Definition: To think of a lot of ideas related to a topic. Types of Brainstorming: Freewrite- to write without format. mindmap- a way of organizing ideas. Example: List   -

Advanced English/ When they see us

19 September 2019. Advanced English Students: During the next class periods you will be watching a four part mini series, When they see us. It is your responsibility to check this blog after each class screening. Here, will be posted a series of questions about the chapter you just watch and also it is important for you to be able to summarize each one and be able to discuss it in class. Each series of questions and summaries will be an independent grade. I want you to pay particular attention to the events taking place and be able to analyze them with our present day and its legal consequences nowadays.
