7th grade: Sensory Language and Brainstorming



Dear 7th graders:

We have been discussing the topic of Sensory Language and Brainstorming.


As a summary and reminder :

Sensory Language- is a language that connects to the five senses(sight,sound,smell,taste,touch) to create an image or description.

Task #1: You will write five sentences using each sensory image. (50 pts.)


 Examples:

1. Manuel likes big Red apples. (visual)

2. Stella's hair is very soft. (tactile)

3. The music at the concert was so loud that i was not able to communicate. (listen)

4. This piece of pie smell very good.( olfactory)

5. My favorite dessert  taste like strawberries.





Task #2 Brainstorming: You will choose a topic for brainstorming and will apply each technique to your ideas. (10 pts. each)

Definition:To think of a lot of ideas related to a topic.



Types of Brainstorming:


Freewrite- to write without format.

mindmap- a way of organizing ideas.

Example:

List -Making a bulleted list is another form of brainstorming. You may decide to use one or more columns.
 example:

  • travel
  • airplane
  • tickets
  • etc.
Venn Diagram: they are useful for comparing two things or ideas.
Example:


Role storming: By rolestorming you will generate ideas by imagining you are somebody else. 

Example: Imagine you are a Superhero, How do you think Superman will write about Puerto Rico? or Wonder Woman? or Spiderman?

Both performing tasks will be turn in on 25th of September 2019.
